Review – absoluteBLACK Oval Road Chainrings

Almost a month ago, I replaced the stock Praxis Turn 50/34 chainrings that came on my Specialized Diverge Comp Smartweld with the absoluteBLACK 50/34 110/5 bcd chainrings.

The Praxis rings are fantastic, but I wanted to see if ovals made any difference.

I can say that they make riding easier and more natural feeling in my day to day rides.

Since I don’t have very good form and don’t spin perfect circles, the oval rings allow each stroke to feel like all the power is being transmitted without waste.

The 34T ring benefits most during climbs when I’m really struggling and my form is getting worse.

You don’t need to have two ovals, but I’d recommend getting one to replace a small chainring.

All in all, the rings look sleek and improve my ride quality and enjoyment.
